"Sliced and diced."
―Dice, after winning a match

Dice is a playable character in Lethal League and Lethal League Blaze. He was added to the original game in "Update 4: The 6th" on November 8, 2014.[1]

About[]

Dice plays like a rogue with a dagger in most RPGs. His offensive potential isn’t the highest. Almost everything he does can be easily covered with either a bunt or double bunts, with a few exceptions. However, he is perfect when it comes to both ball-hogging and defense. His angles all have clear advantages. Up is great to punish bad positioning and ball hog; down is a good finisher and pretty good for ball hogging; his spikes work similarly to his up angle, allowing you to either ball hog further, or to punish incorrect coverage. His movement is where he shines. His fast fall is decently fast, allowing you to abuse verticality, especially when coupled with his super jump. And his super jump is one of the best movement tools in the game. It’s perfect for very precise interceptive covers, creates a lot of steal potential, helps him reach high balls extraordinarily fast, and allows him to have full control of the air space to ball hog or create complex offensive situations. Finally, his special. It’s not perfect, but it allows for a lot of options, making him a very adaptable character. When it comes to killing potential, it’s unlikely that you’ll be using it for the sole purpose of attacking, at least not without creating a bait out of it or setting up corner glitch situations. However, it is yet another tool he has to create some distance from the opponent while keeping BP. Overall, the perfect character for those who are willing to sacrifice raw offensive prowess for the ability to dance around your opponent and come up with your own plan.

Blaze Bio[]

Real name Hans Insel, Dice eschews the typical weapons of choice for a ping pong paddle that he wields with uncanny force. He appears distant at times but can be intensely concentrated whenever he feels the need. As a Buddhist, Dice is known for his mental discipline and diligent physical training.

Gameplay[]

Mobility[]

Dice has access to a crouch jump, which allows him to reach the top of most stages. He has a high top speed and quick acceleration; this, coupled with his fast vertical acceleration, means that precision is required to catch the ball mid-air.

Special Attack[]

Dice can only activate his special during hitlag by swinging again after he hits a ball. His special, while it lacks in precision control, can be manipulated in numerous ways. He can, during hitlag either as he activates special or after he activates special, move the ball in an arcing direction either left or right. After manipulating the ball either left or right, he can make the arc more or less shallow by using the normal directions, up making the arc wider and down making it more shallow. Once the ball hits the ground after its arc, it may do one of two things: It can launch off the ground at a shallow angle much like the switch flip angle if left or right are held, or if up is held, it will bounce vertically, similar to a down-bunt. If the ball hits a wall, it will follow the wall like switch's wall surf but the ball will always slide down the wall. Once it rides along the wall, it will reach the corner between the wall and the floor. It will use the previously explained shallow angle when hitting a corner between the ground and a wall. However, if the ball touches the ceiling while arcing, it will ride the ceiling in the direction it was already going in. As it slides along the wall, it will reach the corner between the wall and the ceiling, where it will launch at his neutral-down angle while midair, or nearly 45 degrees.

Trivia[]

  • Dice has a tattoo of the six dotted side of a die on his chest.

DLC Skin Lore[]

When Dice was caught by the Shine City Police in the Sewage Facility he was forced to make his escape by dropping straight down into the pipes. Now, the Sewage Facility doesn't just contain simple waste water. Full of unspeakable toxins and experimental bacteria, Dice soon lost consciousness. Some time passed and in a stroke of luck, Latch detected his lifeless body on his Robo-Sub's sonar. While in Latch's care, Dice bandaged his own diseased skin and quickly fled into the darkness as if possessed by some primal instinct. He was spotted destroying his long time rival Doombox in a match not long after. -Late Stage Illmatic
