Grid is a playable character in Lethal League Blaze.

About[]

Grid has a great set of tools, for all dimensions. His angles are wide and varied, allowing for a phenomenal mix of ball hogging and decent attack potential. In particular, his spikes and smash are a great way to either attack or cancel into ball hogging. His movement can make it hard to get to the ceiling, but his incredible fast fall speed is the perfect way to abuse verticality and continue chains that would be impossible for other characters. Furthermore, his big hitbox is perfect for steals and parry baits, allowing for an uncanny amount of pressure. Next, his special. It might seem like an offensively driven special, but I would argue that its beauty is in his defensive and ball hogging potential. Due to his hitbox, smashing is usually a great way to cover, especially as you can cancel into his special immediately afterwards. You can create a lot of space with his special, allowing you to control the ball for a very long time. Finally, his alt special does have some uses. It can be used as a way to immediately transition from a cover into an attack, all in one go, often creating frame traps or bait potential. Overall, grid is a very solid character, the only downside being that many of his offensive options can be easily defended with the proper knowledge. As such, I recommend putting some time into practicing ball hogging, or creating elaborate offensive baits.

Blaze Bio[]

A made man from System, a crime syndicate from out of town. He is well respected in his family for his physique and ruthlessness. As an Electronian, he was born with several electrical components and he is outfitted with a bodysuit to enhance his abilities.

Gameplay[]

After hitting the ball, Grid can teleport a few units in any cardinal direction, up to two times, with the ball. This also changes the angle the ball will be released at. If Grid teleports either left or right, he will release the ball in that same direction. He also releases the ball either left or right if he teleports downward. Teleporting downwards while on the ground will result in him remaining in the same location. If he teleports upwards, he will release the ball at his smash angle in the direction he was facing before the teleport. Inputting down during a teleport (when he is invisible) of any direction will cause him to release the ball at his vertical spike angle. The ball releases with low hitlag, as if the ball was hit after being bunted. Grid can also bunt out of his special after he teleports to open up even more options for mixups.

Grid also has an alternate special, activated by crouching and pressing the jump button. Grid will stand in place, with his arms in an X, charging electricity. Grid will then have a periodic shine/blink effect applied to him to signify that his alternate special is ready to be used. His next hit will behave like a charged hit, doubling ball speed and having decreased hitlag.

Trivia[]

  • Grid's home stage is the New Rise District.
  • His hat can be taken off by pressing Up+Bunt during his taunt animation. Doing the input again makes his hat reappear.
  • Grid is one of the two characters that do not have additional mobility, the other being Nitro.
  • Despite Grid and Volt being two different characters in-lore, Volt is merely a DLC outfit for Grid, meaning the two share virtually everything. Except appearances that is.

DLC Skin Lore[]

Back when Grid entered Shine City in hopes of expanding System's territory, he decided to set up a power provider telemarketing scam company 'Quality Output'. It was not to last, because the Shine City Police quickly busted the operation. To his surprise, Grid was standing face to face with his long lost brother Volt, now 'agent Volt' of the police's High Charge Devastator Unit. The two were well matched and to Grid's advantage, the ensuing fight destroyed all evidence and caused a city wide blackout. -Neopolis Devastator
